TATTOO AFTERCARE:

Your tattoo is essentially a wound and needs to stay clean and cared for.

• Always remember to wash your hands with liquid antibacterial soap immediately before touching your tattoo!
• Avoid direct sunlight on the tattoo. Tanning beds should absolutely be avoided!
• Do not submerge or soak your tattoo. This includes baths, pools and hot-tubs.
• It is okay to remove the wrapping once you are home and/or somewhere that you can thoroughly clean your tattoo. Under most circumstances you should not re-wrap your tattoo, it needs to be kept clean and allowed to heal. (Your Artist will tell you when to re-wrap if appropriate.)
• Should your clothing become “stuck” to your new tattoo, thoroughly wet the material and slowly peel it from the tattoo. This will prevent damaging the surface skin and your tattoo.
• After getting your tattoo, wash it often with liquid, antibacterial soap, such as Liquid Dial (Do not use Bar soap, it harbors bacteria and germs, and could lead to serious infections) and apply a thin coat of ointment. We recommend Aquaphor or any water-based tattoo-care ointment. Do not use Neosporin or petroleum products!
• Your tattoo should begin to “peel” or shed small flakes. Do not pick at it, scratch it, or “help it peel”. If the tattoo scabs, leave it alone! Picking at it could damage the tattoo and cause color loss or possibly scar tissue.

Following these instructions should help your tattoo heal properly and should help your tattoo to retain as much color as possible. Touch-ups are sometimes necessary, but not following these instructions will put the cost of repairing any damage to the tattoo upon the recipient of the tattoo.
